Eligible low-income families (eligibility is based on the criteria for free school meals) with learners in Years 3 to 9 will be able to apply for a grant to buy a computer and internet package&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is intended that this new government initiative will benefit at least 270,000 households in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The packages offered to families also include <a id=\"aptureLink_ho3xp2P55K\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assistive%20technology\">assistive technology<\/a>, to make sure access by young learners on-line is at its most effective.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and carers can review information on the Becta website here. <em>(<a title=\"What is Becta?\" href=\"http:\/\/about.becta.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Becta is the organisation dedicated to the innovative use of technology in education<\/a>).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Schools who wish to actively participate in the programme can <a title=\"Home Access information for schools\" href=\"http:\/\/schools.becta.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">find Home Access information here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Detailed information for parents, carers and organisations who wish to <a title=\"Information for parents and carers about Home Access\" href=\"http:\/\/www.homeaccess.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">support the Home Access programme can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Home Access is the new Government programme which will help to ensure that more children in England have access to technology at home to support learning.
